Synopsis Issues relating to health have been given priority during the present and the past centuries. The programmes initiated towards better health,in developing countries, were not succcessful in improving the quality of life of the people. By presenting this book to the academic world and policy makers, the editors have enriched the existing limited literature on health Issues.The work has 36 chapters, classified under six parts. The issues covered under them are Eradication of Sexually Transmitted and other Communicable Diseases, Stablization of Population, Family Planning, Child Survival and his health, Teenage Fertility, Gender Inequality, Value of Son Preference and Neglect of Daughters, Induced Abortion, Age of Marriage, Reproductive Health and Empowerment of Women. The contribution of Ayurveda for reproductive health has been discussed as it has negligible side effects and rejuvenative abilities. Methodological perspectives of the issues enumerated are focused on Asian and Middle East countries among which Bangladesh, Indonesia, India and China are exhaustively covered. Other countries discussed include USA and Nigeria. Most of the contributors are the senior academics and belong to China, India, Indonesia, Africa, Australia, Canada, France and USA. Hence, the book presents a cross-cultural and international perspective on a number of disciplines like Health, Population Studies, Home Science, Anthropology, Social Work, Sociology, Communication and Extension Studies.
