Synopsis Trees being perennial, are the main source of providing green cover to the soil they bind the soil and provide more biomass to the soil than other sources. Green parts of the trees, particularly the foliage converts the solar energy into real energy--carbohydrates, sugar, fats, proteins, vitamins, hormones, wood, charcoal, petrol, gems, diamonds etc. Benefits and utilities of the trees have been discussed in the respective chapters of the book. Since trees are specific to certain climatic and soil conditions, their agro-climatic requirements have also been described in the relevant chapter. For raising and maintaining the growth of trees, due attention has to be paid. Like other living beings, trees are attacked by number of insects, pests, and diseases so, the symptoms of attack for their identification and control measures have been included in this book. Some description of common trees which are easy of grow has been given so that it becomes easy for the grower to select the right type of the tree for his specific use.
