Synopsis For the effective promotion of sports it is necessary that there should be uniformity in policy and action in the larger interest of the nation. It is with this objective in view that the constitution amendment Bill 1988 has been passed and sports placed in the concurrent list. A Resolution on National Sports Policy was adopted by the government of India in 1984 which contains thirteen points as a time bound programme to be drawn up for providing infrastructure of sports and physical education in the country various measures have been adopted to implement the policy guidelines contained in the Resolution. Character building and promotion of physical fitness has been made an integral part of the youth programmes. The three approaches to delinquency prevention are-organizing activities that contribute to healthy personality development and adjustments of children and organizing specific preventive services for children.
