Synopsis I feel great pleasure in presenting the book entitled "Chemistry of Natural Products - Alkaloids and Terpenoids" for meeting the needs of B.Sc., B.Sc. (Hons.) and post graduate students of all Indian Universities. The study of the Chemistry of alkaloids and terpenoids has gained a prominent position in the field of organic chemistry recently. Topics of this book have been arranged in a fascinating manner. Topic covered in this book is self sufficient in itself since it not only provides the main physical, chemical, medicinal properties but also presents the elaborated discussion of the constitution of various alkaloids and terpenoids supported by modern spectroscopic techniques, physical aids and also by synthetic routes. It is hoped that the book will prove to be sufficiently useful for readers as I have tried to project current developments wherever possible. A clear and lucid discussion of these issues is attempted in the following pages and it would be hoped that the materials brought together for this purpose would serve not only the interested students and research workers in the area but also the biochemists, molecular biologists, pharmacologists, medicinal biochemists who have not studied these topics during their educational carrier.
