Kunnakkudi Vaidyanathan, the violin maestro was born in 1935 in as the name suggests, Kunnakkudi. His father Ramaswamy Sastri was his Guru. His aim to satisfy all sections of the audience led him into music directions for films and HMV also. He was the chairman of lyal Isai Natak Mandram and presently is the President of Raga Reasearch Centre. He was awarded Kalaimamani after 25 years of violin concerts which also brought him 25 sovereigns of Gold by the former Chief Minister of Tamilnadu, J. Jayalaitha. His crowing glory was the Chowdiah award given to him by former President of India Sri Shankar Dayal Sharma.
