Synopsis

The volume is a study of Indo-Australian ties from the viewpoint of practice of public diplomacy. It deals with the historical roots of public diplomacy in general and public diplomacy in a post-imperialism world order. Examining public diplomacy in their relations over the decades, it argues that the future of Australian-India relations and positive engagement between them lies in public diplomacy practices that the countries adopt. It emphasises the cultivation of a new racial etiquette in Australia in 1930-60, South Asian immigrants in Australia and sports culture. It focuses on cultural dimensions of the Australian public diplomacy in Asia as well.

Amit Sarwal is presently teaching as Lecturer at the Department of English, SGND Khalsa College, University of Delhi. He has co-edited English Studies, Indian Perspectives (2006) with Makarand Paranjape and Aneeta Rajendran, Austrralian Studies Now (2007) with Andrew Hassam, and Fact & Ficition: Reading in Australian Literature (2008) ans Creative ation: Australian Cinema and Cultural Studies Reader (2009) with Reema Sarwal.
