About the author

Sucharitha Reddy

Sucharitha Reddy was born in 1938, in a zamindar family, in what is today, the state of Andhra Pradesh. After schooling in St. Anns in Secunderabad, she attended the Women's College in Hyderabad, and at 1 8 she got married to a rising Medical Student from the Family of Chittoor Reddys.

As one of seven siblings, right from childhood, Sucharitha was used to a Large household, where every meal was a feast for at least 100 people. Her Interest in Cooking gradually turned into a passion. She did her own informal Research to get to know the finer nuances of Andhra cooking and gathered a staggering number of genuine recipes. And during the innumerable trips with her Husband across India and to most Parts of the world, she learned about other cuisines, adding to her already rich repertoire.

Culinary expertise apart, Sucharitha has strong beliefs in the Spiritual too. She finds time and energy for elaborate pujas as well as several social causes. That she is a perfect mother, has been vouchsafed by her four daughters, who have acknowledged that the training they got from their Mother is what helps them strike a perfect Balance between home and work. Sucharitha also continues to be major source of Strength and support to her husband Dr Prathap C Reddy, the Executive Chairman of Apollo Hospitals Group.

This maiden attempt of Sucharitha, manifestly a compendium of authentic Andhra recipes, also offers some rare glimpses into Andhra culture and history. In essence it chronicles an enjoyable trip down the Memory lane holding the hands of one who is undoubtedly the Andhra expert as the title of the book so aptly suggests.
