About the author

R K Arora

Major General RK ARORA, of the Punjab Regiment, was awarded the President, was awarded the  President’s Gold Medal on commissioning from the Indian Military Academy in 1972 and the Commando Dagger by the Infantry School a year later. He is a graduate of the Army Staff College, Camberley (UK) and Higher Command Course. He has extensive experience in counter-insurgency operations in Nagaland, Assam and Jammu & Kashmir. He had a long tenure with the United Nations Military Observer Group supervising the Iran Iraq ceasefire in 1988-90. He has served as an instructor in the Infantry School and the Perspective Planning Branch at Army HQ and Secretary of the Joint Planning Committee in the Ministry of Defence. He commanded 14 Punjab ( Nabha Akal) and an amphibious brigade in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Maj Gen Arora took over command of an Infantry Division in 2007. He has authored numerous books on Indian Military history.
