The author started her mineralogist career in Geological Survey of India and continued for more than 30 years to handle various mineralogical problems related to both academic and applied aspects. With International Atomic Energy Agency sponsored post-doctoral study a deep understanding was developed of various analytical techniques their implications and use of the data in particular their specific uses in mineralogical/geological studies. This experience and expertise was used during the investigations/supervisions done in GSI. Her research career has been extended to various fields like analytical techniques, marine geology, bauxite, cement etc. across the globe which has been reported at different symposiums and published in various journals. The over-view of mineralogy a multidisciplinary subject and its specific applications to assimilate and incorporate the recent views in various fields of mineralogy have been elaborated during her teaching experience at different universities across the country. This book is a comprehensive presentation of her vast experience and expertise in different aspects of the mineralogical field.
