Synopsis

World Encyclopaedia of Nuclear Arms Control and Non-proliferation is a comprehensive study and analysis of all the treaties and agreements related to the control of nuclear arms and proliferation of weapons. The whole work has been divided into four volumes. The very first volume deals with different types of nuclear test ban treaties and its implications for arms control and disarmament.

The second volume covers nuclear accident and radiological emergency, nuclear safety and physical protection of nuclear material and international atomic energy agency. The next volume deals with the role and structure of the department of disarmament affairs, peaceful nuclear explosions as well as different treaties concerning nuclear arms control.

One of the most effective ways of dealing with nuclear weapons has been the conclusion of various strategic arms limitations/reduction treaties. The fourth and final volume of this encyclopedia includes all the relevant strategic arms reduction treaties.

Essentially, the encyclopedia examines the basic nature of the problems associated with the acquisition of nuclear weapon. Surya Narain Yadav

Dr. Surya Narain Yadav is an eminent political scientist specialising on India's foreign policy, with a particular focus on bilateral relations. The role of globalisation in the determination and operation of foreign policy, especially with regard to regional organisations and international institutions is his special field of investigation. The author visited Portugal (Europe) in 2001, and Uganda (Africa) in 1999 and 2000 for undertaking academic and research assignements. His prominent publications include, India-Uganda Relations: A New Model for South- South Cooperation; India's Foreign Policy: Opportunities and Obstacles in the Post-Cold War Era. He has written over 10 books. The author was nominated for the Chinese government fellowship, a joint research programme by the Ministry of Human Resources Development (Government of India) and the Government of the People's Republic of China in the year 2001.
