Synopsis This book makes a comprehensive and critical study of bilateral relations between India and Uganda in a historical, political and economic perspectives. The genesis of India's interaction with Africa in general and Uganda in particular, can be conveniently traced back to the ancient period of history. More significantly the Indo-Ugandan Bilateral relations have been governed by the geostrategic, economic, political and above all, the primarily socio-cultural milieu of the two nations. Consequently, it has been observed that here were substantial Indian settlement at various places on the East Coast of Africa even during the pre-European Period. In fact, when the European - both Germans and Englishmen-started their activities in the Eastern Africa, they found that virtually the total coastal trade was in the hands of Indians.
