Synopsis Spherical trigonometry is a branch of spherical geometry which deals with polygons (especially triangles) on the sphere and the relationships between the sides and the angles, whereas spherical astronomy or positional astronomy is the branch of astronomy that is used to determine the location of objects on the celestial sphere, as seen at a particular date, time, and location on the earth.

The present publication is divided into two sections i.e. Spherical Trigonometry and Spherical Astronomy. This book has been written by keeping in view the syllabi of several universities and colleges along with the new pattern of UGC. The textbook gives a general but comprehensive introduction to the subjects to make it useful not only to the students but also as background reference book for research scholars and other professionals in the field. The book has plenty of exercise problems arranged in a graded level of difficulty, worked-out examples and numerous diagrams that illustrate the principles discussed.
