Encyclopaedia of Indian Society and Culture (In 5 Volumes)

Raj Kumar Pruthi (Editor) Rameshwari Devi (Editor)
Synopsis Indian Society, as we see it today, has come through the ages. In this long journey towards development and progress it has transcended ancient, medieval periods and running through to the modern period. During this process of transcendence, the culture and civilisation of each period had great bearing on Indian society. Many civilisations became extinct in this developmental process but their art, archaeology and cultural heritage still remains and reminds us of those golden days of history. History and civilisation of India has seen many foreigners, faiths and religions coming in close contact with Indian society. Being of generous attitude, Indian society assimilated all these faiths and religions enriching and depicting its secular nature. In this comprehensive five volume encyclopaedia an attempt has been made to present exhaustive and elaborate details about various civilisations, cultures, myths, Gods, faiths, religions, art, architecture, handicrafts, metalwork, pottery, education, literature, and many more aspects of Indian society—ancient, medieval, as well as modern.
