Synopsis This collection makes available to numismatists, archaeologists, historians and coin collectors twenty four papers by scholars who have specialised knowledge of coins. They help us to understand the rich and varied culture of South India from c. 300 B.C. to 1800 A.D. The authors discuss about : South Indian and foreign coins, coin moulds; coins with a portrait of a saint, a poet; coins with the name of a social reformer, a prime minister and other interesting discoveries. They are : Punch Marked Maharati, Satavahana, Early Pandya, Vishnukundi, Pallava, Bana, Kadamba, Kalachuri, Late Chola, Vijayanagara, Delhi Sultanate, Madurai Nayak and Mughal, besides coins from far-off places like Greek Islands, Rhodes, Crete, Rome and Venice.
