Traditions in Islam
Synopsis
Islamic injunctions on society, politics and culture have been very specific and comprehensive. Beside the revelations and the sayings of the prophet, later Muslim rules and saints have given many traditions which have guided and directed the behaviour of Individual Muslims and societies. In this book a comprehensive survey has been made of there traditions. Said Ibn ‘Abbas-with whom may Allah be pleased: The first thing that Allah created was the Preserved Tablet on which is preserved of all that has been and all that will be till the Day of Resurrection. No one knows what is on it save Allah, Most High, It is of white pearl and Allah created for it from jewel a Pen whose length is a five hundred year’s journey, whose point is split, and from, which light flows as ink flows from the pens of this world. Then a call came to the Pen. “Write!â€, whereat the Pen from terror at the summoning trembled and shook so that there was a quavering in its tasbih like the rumbling of thunder, then it entered on the Tablet all that Allah bade it enter of all that is to be till the Day of Resurrection. So the Tablet was filled up and the Pen ran dry and he who is to be fortunate was made fortunate and he who is to be unfortunate was made unfortunate. This book will prove a good guide for understanding Islam and will be read both by Muslims and people of other faiths also.
