Synopsis Encyclopaedia of Islam is a comprehensive and outstanding informative work of Islamic study from emergence of Islam to modern times by eminent scholars Dr. Masood Ali Khan and Dr. Shaikh Azhar Iqbal who have recreated all aspects of Islam as a religion as a philosophy and as a culture. To provide a true picture of Islam a vast project was undertaken to create a comprehensive Encyclopaedia of Islam. Among works already existing this Encyclopaedia will create a special place for itself and will be considered an authentic and outstanding work on this subject. Islam one of the three major world religions. Since its emergence from the oasis cities of Mecca and Madina in Arabian desert, its miraculous expansion has not been limited to Arabia only. Soon after the death of prophet Muhammad Islam started spreading with electrifying speed by the appeal of a new religion with its faith in one God and emphasis upon the mercy of all mighty that took number of people into the fold of Islam. This new religion didn't coerce people to convert forcibly. Muslim who owned Islam first rose to great heights and took the massage of Islam outside Arab. Its miraculous expansion covered Asia, Africa and part of Europe, Turks embraced it peacefully and a large number of people of Asian continent followed the new religion with pride. Islam was destined to become global religion not by force but because of its principles and prophet Muhammad's preachings sovereignty of God and brotherhood. Islamic philosophy is a product of complex intellectual process, however Arab element is propoundent but it cannot be termed only as Arabic philosophy. The religion of Islam is responsible for creation of world civilization in which people of many ethnic background participated and played central role in developing intellectual and cultural life on such a scale not seen before. Muslim dynasties ruling in various parts of world witnessed the flowering of Islamic culture and thought. This process was only in the beginning of modern times as a result of weakening faith among Muslims. Now again this activity has begin a new, it continues to grow not only in Asia, Africa but also in Europe and American where Muslims are a noted minority. This multi-volume Encyclopaedia is an effort to give a complete picture of Islamic philosophy and culture. It is expected to benefit students, teachers, researchers and as well as general reader.
