Synopsis Though gender equality is a matter of fact, there are still many issues that plague the development and empowerment of women. Early women activists and feminists built up the women’s liberation movement and ultimately gained many positive factors in their favour. This resulted in many old issues gaining public prominence and new ones caused by the emancipation of women and their entering into the mainstream of social and political life. This book discusses the various issues women face in their march towards equality. The prevalence of male attitudes, generally called male chauvinism, still results in some women in some countries relegated to a second-class status.
