Synopsis Education is the most critical input into the entire processes of social, economic, political and cultural transformations. The underlying problems of planning our education service are profound . How far can the need to evaluate such a costly enterprise be reconciled with its essential freedom? One of the major front which was always neglected is proper linkages between education and employment. Several steps have been initiated to tackle this problem. The need for planning arose with the intensified complexities of modern technological society. Problems such as population, manpower needs, ecology, decreasing natural resources and haphazard application of scientific developments all place demands on educational institutions for solution.
