Synopsis Education as a composite discipline must confirm to the socio-economic, socio-political and socio-cultural conditions, therefore, principles of education encompassing all these aspects become a pre-requisite and thus arises the need to develop the thoughts and knowledge on these aspects in such a format as the present book at hand. The present work captioned as Basic Principles of Education, among several books published in India, claims to be the most comprehensive. This book has been designed so as to make the students, scholars and teachers informed of the principles of education. The book presents a very systematic presentation of the subject matter in simple and lucid language drawing examples from the Indian Educational system. The book contains point analysis an description of the subject in Indian context and covers the syllabus of all the Indian universities on the subject. The book in all contains 35 chapters out of which first 14 chapters are devoted to basic concepts such as Basic Elements, Forms of Education, Aims of Education, theory and Practice of Education, Study of the Child, Classification of Agencies of Education, Family, Community, Religion, State and School as Agencies of Education, Non-Formal Education and Educational Values. Because no other book contains all these aspects as they are written as per syllabus of some particular universities. The remaining 21 chapters in the book contain pinpoint study of the principles of education because education must meet the socio-economic, socio-political and socio-cultural needs and conditions of the society and the nation which in totality has not been done, to the best of my knowledge, by any other Indian author. Principles of Democratic Polity, Modernization, Mass Education, Scientific Attitude and Vocational Education are also included in this book.
