Vols. 71-90 impart valuable information on Goa, south India, Major Dynasties of Ancient Orissa, Ancient Bihar, ancient Gujarat and Ancient Punjab. Vols. 91-110 are devoted to indepth study of Ancient Ladakh, ancient Himachal Pradesh, Karnakara, Ancient and Medieval Rajasthan, Kerala and Malabar. While Vols. 111-130 focus on indepth study of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Assam. This encyclopaedic work, covering all Indian States and Union Territories presents the contemporary India and its culture in the light of modern knowledge in its pristine vigour. Thus, it has become both a vertical and a horizontal study and is a unique contribution to the study of the Ancient, Medieval and contemporary Modern India.

Dr. Shyam Singh Shashi Ph.D. in Social Anthropology  2 Hails from a village“ Bahadurpur Jutt near Hardwar in U.P. (1936). Has many books in English and Hindi to his credit. Over a dozen books on Indian tribes and culture viz. Nomads of the Himalayas, Tribal women of India, Shepherds of India, Gaddi Tribe of Himachal, Roma-the Gypsies, etc. Over two dozen books for children, fourteen collections of poems including one epic. Edited Himalayas, a monthly journal for two years and Sainik Samachar, a weekly journal of Armed Forces for seven and a half year. Undertook examinership and guidance for Ph.D. scholars, etc., and various assignments like teaching in the Universities.
