Synopsis "A vast body of literature on the problems concerning women in the more advanced countries has come out but very few of these works could serve the desired objectives in terms of composite content and perspective. Day-by-day crimes against women are rising and laws formulated to safeguard women’s interest seems insufficient to handle the situation. Now the debate on women’s development has provoked the intellectual community as well and there has developed a wide-ranging discussions on what should constitute the agenda of women’s development. It is this phenomenon in its varied dimensions which the editor of this publication has tried to explore.
