Rhythmic Dialogue
Track 1. : Gharana Talk
Gharana Talk features Ustad Fazal Qureshi, son of the legendary Ustad Allarakha Khan, playing a traditional Punjab Gharana tabla solo with emphasis on rhythmic improvisation and traditional Punjab Gharana compositions.
Track 2. : North & South in Dialogue- Duet
(Tabla & Mridhangam in 9 beats) In this track, Ustad Fazal Qureshi and Sridar Parthasarathy explore the Rhythmic Cycle (Mata Taal) which is 9 beats. The approach is to show the taal improvisation of both the North Indian and South Indian percussion system. North & South in Dialogue is a unique blend wherein both percussionists showcase their own, individual style or Gharana style of improvisation.
Track 3. : Taal Ecstasy
A very pacy and foot-tapping piece, Taal Ecstasy features Ustad Fazal Qureshi, Sridar Parthasarthy and Nitin Shankar exploring the other dimension of rhythm.
Track 4. : Unrequited Love (Thumri)
This is a unique track that explores the possible interaction between thumri and fusion elements. The vocals by Kalpana breathe life into the lyrics, highlighting the pangs of love. Definitely, a one-of-a-kind track.
