Pandit Rajendra Varman, an outstanding and imaginative Sitar player of the present generation, belongs to the family of musicians from Rajasthan. His initial training in music started at an early age, from his father, a well-known and eminent vocalist and musicologist of Rajasthan, Late Acharya Devendra Varman 'Naad Ratna'.
He was greatly influenced by the sitar maestro Padmabhushan Ustas Abdul Halim Jaffer Khan of Indore Gharana and under his training at a very tender age, imbibed the intricacies of 'Jafferkhani Baaj' of sitar. Today, he is most acclaimed senior disciple of the Ustad.
He is well-known for his purity and systematic development and the serenity of raga. While his Layakari is lilting, his vilambit & drut compositions display uncanny brilliance and mastery over the instrument. His super fast taans are known for their clarity.
