Rhythm Everywhere
A unique rhythm - concept album RHYTHM EVERYWHERE showcases rhythms from across India as well as rhythm that one is enveloped in ones daily life. The album is produced by noted music director and Tabla player Kedar Pandit along with one of the leading tabla players of today - Pandit Vijay Ghate. Pandit Vijay Ghates command over his instrument is clearly evident in the album, given some lightning-quick tempos, complex sub-divisions and improvisations so effortlessly played. The album kick starts with Freethm a groove-based track with a delectably exuberant tabla solo. Then comes the Friendship Express a journey highlighting folk beats across India like bhangra, lavani, garba and others with the tabla and a varied percussive ensemble of Dhol, Khol, Mridangam, Dholak, Dholaki, Duff etc. Beat Machine is an exploration of Laykaari (movement of beats) in our mechanical world. Tele Conversations is a unique Sawaal-jawab an eloquent dialogue that shows various rhythm patterns that evolve out of a telephone - the instrument and its ring tones, etc. Path to Peace is a dive into the chaos of modern life in search of the universal truth. The great Indian storehouse of the accumulated knowledge about division of time in the form of Sanskrit meters (Chandas & Vrittas) and classical improvisations (Kavits) has been explored in the track Mantra Shakti. Peshkaar - An Evolution is an acoustic immersion into the evolution of recorded sound from mono to wide angle along with an expressive presentation of the tabla lineage.
This musical endeavor embodies the spirit of modern India and yet has its roots firmly planted in the classical heritage.
