Synopsis

Recently Applied and Economic Zoology has been included in national syllabus by UGC for undergraduates. The book examines insect pests, animal pests, natural enemies, beneficial insects, beneficial animals, agricultural chemicals and more. The current book is blueprint for undergraduate students to aware about our natural wild life and its economic importance. The book contains four chapters with illustrations and boxed materials. In the chapter 1, we have covered parasitology, in which we have deliberately discussed about parasites of domestic animals and human, structures, life cycles, pathogenicity, diseases, symptoms and it control. In chapter 2, we consciously talk about vectors and pests. Here, we covered life cycle and control of pest and vectors such as Gundhi bug, Sugarcane leafhopper, Rodents, Termites and Mosquitoes. Chapter 3 is about animal breeding and animal cultures. In this, we stared with basic introduction about breeding and culture, difference between them and then detailed discussion about Animals and Human Society, Animal Breeding, Genetic engineering applications in Animal Breeding, Breeding and Variation, Aquaculture, Pisciculture, Poultry farming, Sericulture, Apiculture, Lac-culture. The last chapter has wild life of India. In this chapter we provided detail for Wild Life Protection and Acts, Documentation of Wild Life, Rare, Endangered and Endemic species, Protected Area Network, Conservation of Wild Life, In-situ and Ex-situ conservation.

Ashok Kumar Rathoure

Dr. Ashok K. Rathoure has received his master degree from C.S.J.M. University Kanpur (M.Sc.) in 2005 followed by H.N.B. Garhwal University (M.Tech.) in 2007 and doctorate degree (Doctor of Philosophy) from H.N.B. Garhwal University Srinagar-Garhwal, (Central University) in Biotechnology. He has also done Diploma in Human Resource Management from Algappa University Karaikudi Tamilnadu. His area of research is environmental biotechnology and research publication includes 57 full length research papers in international and national journals of repute, 6 Course books, 5 Research books and 4 Book chapters in Springer verlag, I.K. Publishers, Mumbai and Daya Publishers New Delhi, respectively. He had reviewed more than 60 research manuscript for many international journals. He is member of APCBEES (Hong Kong), IACSIT (Singapore), EFB (Spain), Society for Conservation Biology (Washington) and founder member of Scientific Planet Society (Dehradun). He has supervised 24 research scholars (UG PG and Diploma). He has more than 4 years of teaching and more than 2 years of industry experience. He is also serving as Editor-in-Chief for Octa Journal of Environmental Research, Managing Editor for Octa Journal of Biosciences and Executive Editor for Scientific India Magazine.

Dinesh Kumar

Dinesh Kumar b. 1972 –in Kurthaul, a village on the southern outskirts of Patna), took his primary and secondary education in government schools in Patna. After gradating in Political Science (Hon’s) from Patna, he went on to study Law at Delhi University’s prestigious Campus Law centre. It was at Delhi University that the idea of taking up a career in writing occurred to him. After his arrival from Delhi in 2000, he began practicing as an advocate in Patna High Court. It was during his first years as a lawyer that the idea of writing a book on his home state first came to his mind. Over the next few years, he tried to gather material-mostly from his personal experiences and observations –for the book. His chief interests, apart from writing, are Western Classics, Buddhist literature, culture and heritage, listening to the BBC World service Brazilian soccer, traveling and spending as much time as possible in solitude. He is at presently working on his next book.
