India occupies the first place in the world in terms of younger population. However, it is also true that not all the sections of the population are qualified to be the human resources. In order to mainstream this section, the Government has initied several efforts to mainstream them and to promote the employable skills and competencies so as to involve them in the economy. Inspite of these measures, the pace of the groeth of the country, involvement of the people in the work has not significant. In the above backdrop, a national seminar on Employability of the youth has been organized by involving experts in the area and brainstormed into the obstacles and successes in this sphere and an attempt has been made to formulate strategies to improve the wmployability of the youth.

The present compendium of the papers is a collection of ideas through brainstorming and will be useful to the functionaries working in the area to re-draft their programmes. The academics and researchers can take cues from this for suggesting national policymakers for restructuring of the programmes.
