Biodiversity is the variability among living organisms from all sources including terresterial, marine and other aquatic ecosystems and the ecological complexes of which they are part, this includes diversity within species, between species and of Ecosystems. The distribution and magnitude of the Biodiversity that exists today is a product of over 3.5 billions years of evolution, involving speciation, migration, extinction and more recently human influences. The adverse effects of human impacts on Biodiversity are increasing dramatically and threatening the very foundation of sustainable development. Loss of Biodiversity resources and their diversity threatens our food supplies, sources of wood, medicine and energy opportunity for creations and tourism and interferes with essential ecological functions. The conservation and sustainable use of Biodiversity needs to become an integral component of economic development.
