Renewable resource based energy generation with its multi-faceted role can also play a pivotal role in making a level playing ground for underdeveloped areas and bring parity among underdeveloped areas and bring parity among underdeveloped, developing and developed areas. Development and growth of renewable energy sector in Northeast region of India, in this regard is of social importance. In spite of Northeast region of India being rich in renewable resources like biomass, hydro and solar, the region is energy starved. Conventional centralised energy generation supply and distribution systems have not been able to reach the entire region due to inherent limitations of the system. In this backdrop, renewable energy sets to become a major way of life in this region.
