Synopsis

Epiphyllous Liverworts of Eastern Himalaya provides a comprehensive taxonomic account of 89 taxa of liverworts belonging to orders Metzgeriales [07 species and one variety in a single genus and family], Porellales [75 species and one variety in 16 genera and 04 families] and Jungermanniales [05 species in 02 genera and as many families] that colonize the leaf surface of vascular plants in the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Darjeeling subdivision of West Bengal. Identification keys at different taxonomic hierarchy have been provided and each species, or the infraspecific taxon, is immaculately illustrated with the help of camera-lucida drawings and photomicrographs.

Monalisa Dey, Ph.D. (b. 1978), is workinh as an Honorary Research Fellow in the Botanical Survery her main interest has been the taxonomy and morphological diversity of liverwords of Easern Himalaya in general and the new to science and seven new distributional records for the country.

D.K. Singh

D.K. Singh (b. 1954), mentored by late Prof. Ram Udar, F.N.A. in Bryophyte taxonomy He also developed interest in angiosperm taxonomy and floristics. Recipient of E.K. Janaki Ammal National Award for Plant Taxonomy for 2009, he is presently Additional Diector of Botanical Survey of India at Kolkata.
