Rammohun Roy began with a campaign against the heinous practice of Sati. Then this compassionate social reformer worked to evolve an enlightened and egalitarian Hinduism by founding the Brahmo Samaj. Denying the caste system and working for the emancipation of women. Rammohun wanted Hindus to go back to the pristine teachings of the Vedas. The battle for reforming Hindu society is still not over and Rammohun Roy’s words are as relevant today.
