Synopsis

The technological innovations are taking place in the field of agriculture at a faster pace. The role of technology in agricultural development has been well recognized by agricultural economists. The technological developments in agricultural machinery have gained importance in the wake of HYV programme. Farm energy is derived from human labour, animal and machines. Farm energy is highly indispensable from timely completion of agricultural operations. Economic implications of energy use in agriculture include increase in agricultural production, farm incomes, standard of living. Use of energy which started during HYV programme (1960s) has got further impetus in the recent past. Economic benefits, management aspects of energy use has not been determined in cropping systems. This book would be great help to policy makers at governmental level for formulating regional energy policies.
