Global Warming and Climate Change

Synopsis

Cosmic Being created all the five basic elements, viz, ether, air fire, water and earth, as well as the creatures. Philosophers believe that Sristi process of creation used the five basic elements to determine the physical characteristics of all creatures. These five elements are known as sky, water fire air and earth. The coexistence of soil, man, beasts, birds, trees, mountains, rivers, and air is now endangered. Man’s love for relationship with nature, his humanity, natural generosity, love of adventure, neighbourliness, friendliness and other qualities are weakening. He is moving away from nature and society. He is no more a neighbour, but an adversary and a competitor. All living things are dependent on mother earth. Earth has an incredible variety of life forms, from microscopic viruses and bacteria which are so small that our eyes cannot even see them, to huge animals like elephants and whales, and trees. All this life is only possible because of our amazing atmosphere which keeps Earth warm and which has within it the ages, which sustain life. The widening gap between developed and developing countries have to be reconciliated in the light of healthy formula for protective development devised to respect environmental ethics and needs of humanity. In this respect ideological differences etc. has to be harmonized to give way for survival of humanity: for future can’t be sacrificed for the gratification of present.

The very idea of development on western lines is fraught with danger and greed which naturally destablises the ecological balance to the basic of all other evils causing a chain reaction of multiplying grief in various forms at different times. The man has to learn to bring complete harmony in the five basic elements of the universe, be it the human body or the mother earth. Any action or activity of the human being, which tries to disturb the natural harmony of the five basic elements, surely leads to mal functioning of the human body as also the ecology.

Gandhi was the greatest apostle of human development. He showed the path of sustainable development, which means environmental harmony, economic efficiency, resources conservation, fecal self, reliance, gender quality, and equity with social justice, cultural relevance, peace and disarmament. He was not against industry but against that, which curbs the growth and development of the villagers. He said there is enough for every one’s need but not enough for every one’s greed.

Need is to adopt measures relating to the use of biological resources to avoid or minimize adverse impacts on biological diversity and to protect and encourage customary use of biological resources to avoid or minimize adverse impacts on biological diversity.
