Information service providers, such as the libraries and the information centres are required to be aware of information needs of their users as also about their information seeking behaviour and information retrieving methods so as to provide them information services adequately and quickly. A lot of research has been done to find out the information needs and information systems. Through, the information search and reading habits of lawyers of Madhya Pradesh, an attempt has been made in understanding the whole phenomena related to high court lawyers as users. This critical study explains the terms information, information needs, information seeking and the user, and then goes on to findout who needs what type of information and for what purpose as also how do they go about in the process. This study may be a model in many ways for similar studies in future covering the lawyers of high courts and other courts of different geographical regions. This five-chapter investigation can be a path breaking in its own way. Information scientists in general and those working in law libraries in particular can serve their client better. The book shall be equally useful to the students of library and information science in understanding the subject.
