Synopsis

This book is explicitly aimed at University Undergraduate and postgraduate students undertaking a subject covering marine biology. It is concerned with Marine Ecology, ecosystems, salt marshes and marine toxicology rather than the practical parts, and so there is no mention of identification techniques, there are no family descriptions, and there is no list terminology.

The book is not really concerned with marine biology as a modern science, but is more a reflection of research interet. Common names are usually known by many people who live in the area and would be commonly understood if used. Marine life comes in so many different forms each with its own name and place in the marine ecosystem. Scientific names are made of Greek and Latin words roots.

Salt marshes are an integral part of marine’s coastal estuaries the prairies -- of new England coral is a general term for several different groups of cnidarians, only some o which help build teefs. Billions of these tiny skeletons build a massive reef. Seagrasses are submerged vascular plants that conform dense vegetative communities in shallow water estuaries. Rocky consist is the dominant New England intertidal environment north of cape cod. Mangals are assemblages of woody plants known as mangroves often several species dominate different zones with respect to distance form marine shore. Major aspects of seawater, their approximate values, the factors that can make them change, and their effects on marine life.

In the final analysis, this book is probably quite acceptable as a textbook, wood certainly be better for both class of biologists as well as class zoologists. For students, teachers, scientists, researchers and all others interested in marine toxicology, will be high value reference results.
