Synopsis
Somesh, the protagonist of the novel, is an idealistic and sensitive man. He joins a missionary educational institution. There he goes through a series of bitter experiences. He is a disillusioned man when he observes the coarse and vulgar conduct of the so-called religious persons. He is very shocked when Rock de Cunnah, the priest-principal, after falling in love with his own student; gives up his vows as a priest. His disillusionment grows further when he discovers the helplessness of the religious females. He is very angry on seeing them falling victims to the lechery of the unconscionable males. The sanctimonious attitude of these religious persons is difficult to put up with. Finally, rejecting the system, he walks away from there. His life takes a complete turn when he shifts to Delhi and begins as a free-lancer. There he is led into the world of political machinations and ruthless operations of the secret agencies of some other countries. Now, he surfaces as a warrior among the most trying circumstances. At the end, his enemies attack him. He survives that. He regains his stability and power when he envisions the larger possibilities of mankind.
