K S Gangadhar (Author) K Satyanarayan (Author) K C Veeranna (Author)
Livestock is playing a pivotal role in rural economy. The contribution of Animal Husbandry sector to the national GDP is also increasing substantially. A sound knowledge of livestock economics, marketing, business management and accountancy helps veterinarians to work in the field more effectively. Hence, the Veterinary Council of India has introduced a course entitled 'Livestock Economics, Marketing and Business management', incorporating fundamentals of Accountancy in the B.VSc.& A.H. degree programme. Each component of this course forms an independent and separate study by itself. The teachers offering the course need to refer varied and diversifed sources to collect the information and the students need to refer different books to update the knowledge. In order to make the task of teaching and learning comparatively easier, an attempt is made to bring out the compilation of various topics connected to livestock economics, marketing, business management and accountancy in the form of a handbook.
Further, the rich experience of authors in the field of teaching, livestock farm management and training, the information becomes more educative for students as well as for the teachers.
