Abha Kulshreshtha (Author) Sushma Kulshreshtra (Editor) Jagdish Sahai (Author)
Synopsis Flora and Plant Kingdom in Sanskrit Literature comprising seventy five panegyrics, poetic compositions, articles and research papers on various aspects of Plant Sciences, Environment, Sanskrit, Indology and Musicology is a tender presentation by a fast friend Prof. Acharya Jagdish Sahai Kulshreshtha and two ardent admirers Prof. Sushma Kulshreshtha and Ms. Abha Kulshreshtha to their esteemed Shri Jyotsnamoy Chatterrjee, a great devotee of Sahitya-Sangita-Kala on the auspicious occasion of his 75th birth anniversary, his Amrtamahotsava. This voluminous work consists of four cascades divided into sixteen sections symbolishing Purusottama-Kalamala. Cascade I : Kalidasa-Sumanojhari comprising four sections. Cascade II : Vanaspati-Kala-Rasajhari comprising seven sections. Cascade III : Surabharati-Sumanojhari comprising three sections. Cascade IV : Sumanomala : Florilegium comprising two sections. This Festschrift comprises a beautiful garland, a Vaijayantimala of sixty four flowers symbolising sixty four arts, Kalas in the form of sixty four learned papers and a charming bouquet, a Puspastabaka of eleven flowers in the form of eleven poetic compositions by eminent scolars and poets covering diverse aspects of Indology mainly centring upon Flora and Plant Kingdom in Sanskrit Literature. The four cascades of this Amrtamahotsava volume deal with various Vedic, Puranic, Sociological, religious, cultural, literary, musicological, dharmasastric, arthasastric, kamasastric, zoological, botanical, environmental and technical scientific problems mainly concerned with Flora and Plant Kingdom based on ancient Indian and modern texts. Kalidasa occupies a special place as befits his grand status in the Classical Sanskrit Literature as well as Prof. Sushma Kulshreshtha’s abiding interest in him. Hence, five sections are devoted to Dipasikha Kalidasa. This Festschrift is multi-dimensional in approach and will prove useful to Sanskritists, Idologists, Environmentalists, Florists and Plat scientists for its penetrating insights into various branches of Sanskrit and Indology.
