Synopsis The phenomenon of globalisation is considered as the most widespread trends in our century has ever witnessed. It has resulted from the worldwide integration of economic and financial sectors. Globalisation contributes to a wide diffusion of ideas and values mobilising international attention to universalistic issues and challenges. In this context of a changing world, the central role played by education to favour social and professional integration appears to be hugely reinforced. Even countries under endemic conflict with their neighbours, or having suffered from decades of discrimination, are revising their teaching of history and geography to learn to live together. The book is an attempt to present the implications and challenges raised by globalisation in the sphere of education. Focussing on the principle of teaching/learning, it provides different means of introducing to learn to live together in educational content and the problems that this may entail. It is hoped that this book will help the policy planners and academicians and educators to develop a sound and effective system of education for continuous development of the young generation’s potentialities, which strengthen their skills and foster positive interests, attitudes and values to cope up with the challenges raised by globalisation, thereby enabling them to live together.
