About the author

M.G. Gupta

Dr. M.G. Gupta was a professor at the Allahabad University for twenty years.  He is an eminent scholar of Persian literature and his English rendering of the six volumes of ‘Mathnawi Rumi’ and ‘Diwan – i – Hafiz’ have won international acclaim.  His paper on ‘Maulana Rum’s contribution to Indian Sufism with Special Reference to the Role of the Murshid’ at the ICCR – sponsored International Seminar held at New Delhi in November 1991 was widely acclaimed by delegates from more than sixty countries.
