The social aspects of poverty may include lack of access to information, education health care or political power poverty can be understood as an aspect of unequal social status and inequitable social relationships, experienced as social exelasion, dependency and diminished capacity to participate and to develop meaningful connection with other people in society, so it is the sum total of multiplicity of factors that include not just income and calorie intake but also access to land and credit, nutrition, health and longevity, literacy and education, safe drinking water sanitation and other infrastructure facilities. Therefore there is a need to look at the multidimensional indicators of poverty which not only reflect to diversities of poverty indicators but also the response to policy orientation.

Kamaljit Das

Mr. Kamaljit Das had a distinguished academic career in historic Ravenshaw College, Cuttack and Utkal University, Bhaubaneswar, Orissa, presently working as member of Faculty, Fakirchand College, University of Calcuatta. He was also awarded university gold medal for his outstanding performance in M.A. examination. He has particiupated in different national and international conferences in different university and research institutes and presented several research papers on different aspects of politics and society. He has also the distincation of publishing servaral research articles in different national and international journals. He is also a regular writer in different Oriya and English newspapers on different dimensions of politics, society, religion and culture. To his credit, Mr. Das has a book on "Livelihood: Discontentment and Governances" and an monograph on "The Changing Face of Public Administration" and he is also closely associated with variety of educational, research and professional bodies.
