About the author

Prabha Borwankar

Dr. Mrs. Prabha Borwankar graduated in a Allopathy (M.B.B.S.) in 1954. She went on to acquire postgraduate diploma in Gynecology and Obstetrics. General practice in Bombay kept her busy for thirty years; but many a time she felt that she should be doing something more for her patients. She realized that Allopathy had its limits creating a deadlock in the treatment of certain disorders. While researching ways to get over this, she was led to Acupuncture. Following up what seemed a promising mode of treatment she went to Hong Kong to learn acupuncture at source. Armed with bachelor's degree she has been practicing Acupuncture with heartening success for over seventeen years. Acupuncture is growing into an important science and Dr. Borwankar is deeply involved right in its progress. She is a regular member at International Conferences in Sri Lanka and Scandinavian countries. By constant research and study Dr. Borwankar has forged ahead on her own discovering new points and modes of treatment that have proved most successful. The South Korean delegation of acupuncturists was impressed by her work in acupuncture and presented her with a momento. Currently she is very much involved with imparting her knowledge. She has trained over a hundred doctors in this modality of treatment. Now through this book she hopes to convey the message of acupuncture to a wider audience. She has received Ph.D. in acupuncture from Sri Lanka in 1983. She also is M.D. Acupuncturist. Presently she is one of the foremost acupuncturists in India and is the first lady acupuncturist in India and second in the world to write a book on acupuncture for students.
