Synopsis

M.C. Muthaiyan

M.C. Muthaiyan is a Post Graduate in Bombay. Initially, he served as a Research Assistant in Mycology in  Agriculture College and Research Institute, Coimbatore and Sugarcane Breeding Institute, Coimbatore, Then he was Assistant Mycologist in Indian Institute of Sugarcane Research, Lucknow, After this, he joined as a Plant Pathologist in the Directorate of Plant Protection, Quarantine and Storage, Ministry of Agriculture, Govt. of India. After serving for more than two decades in the same organization, he retired as Deputy Director (Plant Pathology).
His training in Plant Quarantine from Department of Health, Government of Australia and in Seed pathology from Danish Government Institute for Seed Pathology, Denmark helped him to add good practical experience in Plant Quarantine.
He was a consultant to Asia Pacific Plant Protection Convention of FAO for revision of Plant Quarantine Pests for South East Asia. He has to his credit more than 30 research papers and has co-authored 5 books related to Plant Quarantine.
