Synopsis This bibliography attempts to provide updated information till the year 2007 on work carried out in the fields of Pharmacognosy and Pharmacology of Medicinal Plants of India including some exotics/introduced/naturalized species. The Bibliography incorporates information on 1521 species, distributed over 851 genera. The plants are arranged alphabetically.  For each plant,  the correct name along with author citation is given in bold,  followed by important synonyms if any in parenthesis. This is followed by  authors name, arranged alphabetically (not year wise), year, full title of paper as mentioned in journal, name of journal with volume, issue and page numbers. At the end, MAPA (Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Abstracts published from NISCAIR, CSIR, India) reference is provided wherever available; the first digits correspond to the year, followed by issue number and the last digits to the item number of the specific work in the respective issue of MAPA. This helps to obtain a easy and quick reference of the abstract of the respective paper. The correct name of the plant provided sometimes do not correspond with the name mentioned in the title of the paper since it is treated at present as a synonym. The original title of paper is unchanged. References to papers are repeated under all species if multiple plants are included in the paper. Review papers are generally excluded seldom a very few important ones. An index to all botanical names mentioned in this work is provided along with abbreviated names of journals. The main objectives of this bibliography are: 1. The correct name of the plant along with synonyms is provided which is necessary to understand all over the world the plant/drug on which work is carried out. 2. Helps to understand extent to which pharmacognosy and pharmacology work is carried out on a plant/drug and to plan future research on unworked/less worked areas. 3. Enables to understand the part of the drug/plant on which work is carried out so that future work may be undertaken for other parts. 4. Helps to avoid duplication repetition of work on the plant/part/research area. 5. Helps to obtain an updated rapid review of literature on pharmacognosy and pharmacology research carried out on plant/drug and to identify gaps in worked out plants/drugs. 6. Helps reviewers and editorial staff of journals in scrutinizing research papers submitted and thus improving quality of research carried out. The authors sincerely hope that his work will be useful to all those who are interested in the field of medicinal plants and provide a platform to enhance the quality of research work carried out on medicinal plants.
