An attempt is made here to narrate the history (nucleus) of the growth & development of Bodh-Gaya region prior to Lord Buddha's advent there, on the holy bank of niranjana and its subsequent growth & Developments as an important center of Buddhism and a place of pilgrimage to the Buddhist world over. With six chapters, the Author has given a vivid description of its growth & development, Episodes connected with Pre and Post enlightenment. Asoka's pilgrimage & Continuity of the reverence in unbroken sequences to the place otherwise known is the literature as Mohabodhi or Sambodhi and to transform it as a center of Art & Architecture.
