Classroom Environment in Child Education

B. Thomas (Author)
Synopsis This book makes a bid assist the teacher in producing the true child of the modern age, by making him familiar with the principles that can create an environment in which the child can ‘breathe’ and acquire the qualities that make for a responsible citizen capable of both living with and questioning the society in which he lives. It was Rabindranath Tagore, the quintessential teacher, who first perceived that a child could not become fully mature when taken out of his natural surroundings. He parleyed this perception into the finding that the ultimate foundation of a true education is empathy between the teacher and the taught. It is vital in a child’s education to encourage him to expand both his understanding and imagination. Tagore was totally opposed to diluting knowledge to make it ‘child-oriented’. Instead, he wanted them treated as responsible, maturing beings. This book leans heavily on classroom observation, the developing capability of children, identifying their language preferences and communication ability and, in short, tries to improve the learning process. The teacher is made aware of the positive role of education and its organic nature. Basically, it stresses the importance of a conducive environment that not only satisfies the yearnings and needs of the child but also provides the teacher a sense of satisfaction. This book is for all teachers, trained or untrained, new entrants, those whose whole life is teaching. It will help upgrade their classroom skills and professional techniques and turn them into true disseminators of not just education but also learning.
