Effective Leadership: Lessons in a Cross Cultural Context

Sarita Seshagiri (Author) Rajul Gajendra Joshi (Author)
Synopsis Corporate multi-culturalism has matured, as globalization and transnationalism have reached new heights. It has ushered in its wake a new wave of corporate leadership that contends with varied cultural experiences. It is especially significant for the Multinational Corporations (MNCs), their subsidiaries overseas and Transnational Corporations (TNCs). Adaptation to a cross cultural form of leadership is the key to successful business in the New Economy. However, the process itself is ridden with various constraints and problems, because leadership styles from certain cultural contexts tend to dominate others. This book "Effective Leadership: Lessons in a Cross Cultural Context" not only analyzes cross cultural forms of management, but also examines how organizational leadership changes and adapts to a new mode of operation. It is divided into three sections. Section one "Cross Cultural Leadership - An Introduction" broadly addresses the concept of cross cultural leadership, emphasizing the importance of managing diversified cultures in an organization and its ethical concerns. The second section “Cross Cultural Leadership Across the World” discusses the organizational leadership styles from countries in Europe, Asia, North and South America and analyzes the differences in their leadership styles. The third section, "Looking Beyond Cultural Frontiers", discusses the development of effective leadership styles and strategies to surmount cross cultural differences.
