Synopsis This book is meant for UG and PG students in the discipline of Plant Pathology. Photographs depicting symptoms have also been given. The chapters have been contributed by eminent scientists/teachers working in different agricultural universities for a long time. They have enriched the book by their lifetime experience. One part of the book deals with ‘Use of Biotechnology in Plant Disease Control’. About the authors

Y.S. Paul

Dr. Y.S. Paul, presentely working as Professor in the Department of Plant Pathology, CSKHPKV, Palampur has been working on the taxonomic aspects of various fungi since 1976. He has written a book ‘Plant Pathogenic Fungi’ and edited two as co-editor on ‘Diseases of Vegetable Crops’ and ‘Diseases of Field Crops’. He has published more than 100 research papers in various National and International journals. He has visited Ethiopia, United Arab Emirates and Uganda.

V K Gupta

Dr. Vijay Kumar Gupta (born 1953) is a Senior Scientist in Regional Research Laboratory (CSIR), Jammu, India. He did his M.Sc. (1975) and Ph.D. (1979) in Zoology both from University of Jammu, Jammu. His research capabilities are substantiated by his excellent work on ecology and reproductive biology of fishes, turtles, birds and mammals which has already got recognition in India and abroad. Dr. Gupta has to his credit more than 60 scientific publications and review articles which have appeared in internationally recognized Indian and foreign journals. Recently he has been nominated as Man of the Year 2004 by the Governing Board of Editors of the American Biographical Institute, USA and a Consulting Editors of the Contemporary Who's Who.
