In this book five thrust of areas, i.e., adult literacy, primary education, higher education, decentralisation of management of education and technical education have been identified to make education relevant to the need of the community and also meet new challenges of economic reforms and globalisation. This book discusses the place of women in the Indian society and the education system. It discusses issues such as whether women have made any serious contribution to the society and community or not. Some people fear change and yet we are changing every single moment. There is definitely a change and the atmosphere has indeed changed for the better. The author could see in all her interactions with the respondents that there is a keen desire for steady movement forward, and even a small success will be seen as a breakthrough. All the respondents were of the opinion that they have a right to decide for themselves, and this will make them mature and responsible adults. The goal can only be achieved when people start thinking critically, determine their biggest goals and approach them with the finest diligence and effort they can command. Women are getting into positions of power, keeping in view the sea changes that have taken place in the polity and economy of India since independence. They have taken responsibility in their life, which can empower them and their sisters in the society to change their destiny.
