Forest Entomology

P.K. Sen Sarma (Editor) L.K. Jha (Editor)
Synopsis

The present book, ipso facto presents an account of Forest Plantation Pests and Their management on which no comprehensive book is currently available in the entire South Asia.  Different chapters of the book have been written by experts based on their long experiences. The topics covered in this book includes pests of forest seeds, Forest nurseries, insect pests of plantations of neem, Ailanthus, Albizzia, Casurarina, lac and silk host plants, social forestry plantations, termite problems in plantation forestry and agroecosystem sandal spike disease having vector MLO etiology, vector-hosts-payhogen interactions, silvicultural cum biological management of pests of plantation forestry etc. The book is, therefore, intended as a desirable supplement to Dr. C.F.C. Beeson's Magnum opus on forest entomology and has been written in the light of the changes that have occurred in plantation forestry, especially with the introduction of exotic tree species. It is hoped that students, teachers and research workers and last but not the least plantation forests will have some base material to stimulate further advances in the field of pests of plantation forestry not only in India but also in other countries of South Asia.
