Meenal Kumar (Author) R. Kumar (Author)
Synopsis With deep respect for transformative processes in the body and mind that accompany menopause, this guide to better woman’s health focuses on the larger issues of ageism, sexism and health care. The older women need to be presented through the eyes of love, admiration, wonder, playfulness, tenderness and acceptance. This book projects her above media negativity, societal invisibility and artistic neglect that effect every aging woman. This requires upholding her, besides protecting her physical and emotional health. The long period of menopausal zone brings a lot of avoidable gloom, misery and helplessness to most women in their midlife. This neglected area has to be focussed and illuminated so that every woman can look forward to menopause as a period of freedom instead of distress. In 14 chapters of this book, the authors have brought out the answers to various problems/ailments, which can afflict a woman at menopausal age. Since all women have to reach menopausal age and pass through the travails of this important phase of life, you are never too young to overlook the impending gifts of menopause. Dr. Rameshwar Chander, Director Health Services Chandigarh and Dr. R.S. Sandhu a former director have dwelt on the dangers of neglecting this important phase of life, while writing their respective prefaces. They find this book as outstanding in the field of medical literature for empowerment of women and a complete guide to educate the doctors and the community about the gray area of menopause. Ms. Neeru Nanda in her foreword has emphasized that ‘written in simple language, this book should be of great value to doctors, patients, teachers, taught’ and in fact all women.
